Elsa’s Experience Discovering NeuroStar TMS Therapy For Her husband
Depression affects the person experiencing symptoms, but it also affects the extended circles of loved ones and friends. Each year, many people learn how difficult it is to watch someone they love struggle with depression.
When a partner or spouse has depression, it is understandable to feel overwhelmed at times. Learn how Elsa encouraged her husband to talk to a doctor and supported his choice to try NeuroStar TMS. We hope this article answers questions about NeuroStar TMS therapy, which you can learn more about by watching Elsa’s experience discovering NeuroStar.
Acts of love: Supporting a partner or spouse with depression
In many marriage ceremonies, people repeat a line about taking care of their partner “in sickness and in health.” It can be surprising when mental illness becomes part of a dynamic in a marriage, even though illnesses like depression are prevalent and the leading cause of disability worldwide.
Supporting someone during a bout–or decades–of depression is an act of love. Elsa knows from lived experience how hard it is to offer continuous support for spouses struggling with mental illness.
“I’ve been married to my husband for twenty-nine years,” Elsa shares in the video. “I didn’t know until about five years into my marriage that he had depression.”
Elsa’s husband was a “perfect candidate for Neurostar TMS”
After learning how her husband was struggling with depression, Elsa wanted to help him. She encouraged him to talk to a doctor about his depression. Then, they both witnessed and discussed how the side effects of his medication “were awful,” as Elsa recounts. Neurostar TMS gave Elsa hope that her husband could experience relief without the side effects of medication.
As a different NeuroStar TMS story conveys, many people with serious depression experience relief from Neurostar TMS therapy. After wondering if her husband was a possible candidate, Elsa was excited to learn that he was.
“I went online and I researched NeuroStar treatment,” Elsa shares. “We went into the doctor’s office that next day for an appointment, and they immediately said he was the perfect candidate for NeuroStar.”
NeuroStar TMS treatments became part of a special routine together
Elsa joined her husband on every NeuroStar TMS treatment, not because she had to, but because she wanted to show support. The care team made each treatment relaxed and comfortable for Elsa and her husband. The couple also added an outing to the NeuroStar TMS routine.
“Either we’d go out to breakfast before he had the treatment or we’d do something afterward. It would always be just a little treat or depending on the weather, we would just go out, have fun, and relax.”
During NeuroStar TMS therapy, many people notice a difference as soon as three weeks. “I think I saw a change when I noticed him doing things he wasn’t doing before,” Elsa shares. “He was saying ‘let’s go on a road trip.’ He was more active. He had more energy. It’s like he’s looking through a whole new pair of glasses.”
