TMS Therapy, Treatment for Depression in Redding
Psychiatric Care Center now provides TMS therapy as an alternative treatment for depression. People who have depression and have not benefited from prior antidepressant treatment may be candidates for TMS Neurostar.
About Neurostar Depression Treatments
TMS stands for Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. The Neurostar device delivers targeted pulses of a magnetic field—similar to what is used in Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or an MRI machine. The in-office treatment takes an average of 30 minutes. Treatment sessions are 5 days a week for approximately 4-6 weeks.
What Makes Neurostar TMS Therapy at PCC Different?
Psychiatric Care Center is the only psychiatric center to offer TMS Neurostar in Redding and the greater Redding area. PCC has a complete mental health care team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, counselors, licensed marriage and family therapists, and social workers.
PCC also provides complementary therapy in conjunction with TMS treatments. Why is therapy important? TMS activates areas of the brain that have been dormant due to depression. As people are re-experiencing emotions and engaging in activities that they’ve missed out on, perhaps for years, therapy provides an opportunity to explore emotions in a structured environment. As a complement to TMS treatments, individual therapy treatments help people to examine their current thoughts and behaviors and develop healthy coping strategies.
TMS treatments at Psychiatric Care Center are covered by most insurance plans, including Medicare and Tricare.
Is TMS Therapy Right for Me?
If your symptoms have interfered with your daily life, you are not satisfied with the results from your prior depression treatments, or if you have switched medications for depression due to their side effects, you may be a candidate for TMS Neurostar.
